....if some day you'd click over here and I'd be back. I was wondering myself. Whoever thought it was a brilliant idea to take a 6 month contract and cram the majority into 5 weeks was a stupid, naive little girl. lol Oh, wait! That would be ME.
Anyhow, it was brutal month. On the road, changing venues every day (except for 3 days when I stayed at a property in Marina del Rey), working late, staying in awful motels/hotels because I wanted to be near the place I was going to be in the morning and although I had a plan, sometimes it changed so I didn't want to arrange the motel/hotel in advance. So sometimes I was driving around at 9pm looking for a hotel in a residential neighborhood of a place I don't know so well. You get the picture. It wasn't the smartest move but somehow I finally survived it.
Then my last 2 days, I decided to come back to my folks place to crash. They have been out of town for 2 weeks and had their house fumigated while I was gone. You know, 'tented' for termites. My dad told me that they had to shut off the pilot light because the house could explode with the gas. So... Friday night I get home about 11pm, all set to light the pilot light and warm up the house, and I distinctly CANNOT hear the sound of gas as I am trying to light the pilot light on the water heater, etc. I think to myself, oh, I'll go to sleep and check it out in the morning, so I snuggle under my electric blanket and go to sleep. Only in the morning, I noticed a red placard outside saying that SDGE have turned off the gas to the house and to please call this 1-800 number to get a guy to come out and turn it on. Of course, he can't come until Monday. Of course, I have to be home ALL day on Monday because they can't give me a f%^&in time. I also can't shower for.3.days. Gross. But the guy did come yesterday and I got my shower and life is good again.
So finally I am finished with the bulk of this project. My husband (eep!) comes down tomorrow to drive back to Washington with me. I'm looking forward to getting home. Risible, I hope we can get together when I get back there. Anonymous G, there's a plan in the works that I may see you again very soon. Take care all and I'll make sure I'm a little more present in the future.
Hopefully I'll even get to a point where I can read your blogs again!!

Heeeeelllllppppppp!
Oh gosh, what a busy few weeks. It's been crazy. I am trying to finish up work in the LA area in less than 3 weeks - but that means moving from hotel to hotel and basically having a nomad existence. Which is okay if it's South America, or New Zealand or Asia, but not LA! There aren't too many redeeming qualities about this area - aside from my friends in Simi Valley and Redlands and a bit of sunshine.... NOT that I've SEEN the sunshine or anything, been inside most days, haven't been working out. It's all I can do to get a hotel and something to eat and crash into bed. This working thing ain't all it's cracked up to be. And I've already gotten paid, so what am I doing???! lol
My friend that's my boss has me hooked up to do another little contract job, training the property managers on the company's new electronic timesheets. That's great. Still requires a small bit of travel (to the same areas I've been) but I'll be smarter this time and factor in travel fees and time. I just have to figure it out. She'd like to have me do little contracts until she can hire me again but I can't work in the Bay Area and live in Seattle.. And I'm staying in Seattle. :))
So, hubby is home and working on putting in a new bathroom. Down to replacing sewer pipes and putting in copper pipes for the water. He has another week or so before he needs to come down here - hopefully he'll get a chunk of it done. He's coming back to spend a few days in the sun with me and then we'll drive back to Seattle. I'm looking forward to getting home and I still have 2 weeks left!! lol
That's about it from here. I'm boring. I went from NO work to work, work, work. Now, if I can take a trip after this is all over, it'll be worth it~
